The February volunteer project will support First Step at their Karen Wilson Smithbauer Family Center in Wayne on Saturday, February 22 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The exact project will be determined closer to the volunteer date depending on what the organization’s needs are. Projects could include cleaning, organizing and maintenance at the center.
The mission of First Step is to eliminate both domestic and sexual violence and to provide comprehensive services to individuals and families impacted by these crimes.

Literacy Day at Salina Elementary in Dearborn
Communities In Schools of Michigan is hosting this large Literacy Day at Salina Elementary in the Dearborn Public Schools, and we are looking for members of the community to be volunteer readers. Each volunteer would read one-on-one with a student for about one hour. The event occurs on March 4th, with registration opening at 7:30 am and reading with the students at 8:15 am. The March volunteer project will support Gleaners Community Food Bank at their Detroit Distribution Center on Saturday, March 7 from 9:00 am – 11:30 am. Volunteers will assist in sorting food and packing food boxes to be delivered to local pantries.
Gleaners mission is to provide households with access to sufficient, nutritious food, and related resources. We accomplish this through collaboration, efficient operations, education, and innovative solutions to achieve a hunger-free community in southeast Michigan.

The Dearborn Historical Museum's Pioneer School Program is coming up soon, and we are still looking for volunteers to help us make this year a success!
Here are the program details: The Pioneer Program runs Mondays through Thursdays, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, March through May. Training is available for all new and returning volunteers! There is no minimum time requirement for volunteers. Even volunteering for one program helps us out! If you are a part of a group who would like to volunteer together, please contact the museum so we can schedule a date that works for everyone.
