SSA Scholarship Opportunity - DNA Camp for Girls Offer ends June 3

Dear SSA Community,Christy Ward and I teach a DNA summer camp for middle school girls (entering 7th or 8th grade in the fall, 2016).  The intent of the camp is to introduce girls to the exciting field of DNA and molecular biology as a way to get more girls interested in science and technology.  We want to not only reach out to girls in nearby communities, but also within our own campus community.  To this end, the Biology Department is offering a $250 scholarship (the total cost of the camp) to the daughter of an SSA member who is interested in attending the camp.  Do you have a daughter who is curious about science?  If so, read the description below and download the DNA-Camp_SSA-Scholarship Instructions. The scholarship is offered on a first come, first serve basis.  We are currently holding a spot for one scholarship winner.  After June 3, however, we will offer this spot to non-scholarship students. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Cheryl Garrett.Camp Description:DNA Camp for Girls, 9 a.m.–2 p.m., Monday, July 18 – Thursday, July 21.Fun hands-on activities and lab work highlight the structure of the cell, as well as the structure and function of DNA – the building block of life.
