SSA Social Committee’s Holiday Gift Shop

Dear SSA Members,

We are inviting you and your child(ren) to participate in the upcoming “Holiday Gift Shop” program that the SSA Social Committee will be hosting. This program makes it possible for children to experience the joy of choosing their own special holiday gifts for family and friends. The “Holiday Gift Shop” program will be set up at the college and supervised by our volunteers. They will help the children pick that perfect gift for the price they want… in a safe, familiar, comfortable atmosphere. We believe this program will create wonderful memories for the children while teaching them to budget their money and make their own decisions. Imagine the fun they will have surprising a loved one with a “secret” gift they bought … all by themselves!

All proceeds go to adopting families from the SSA! We welcome you to be part of this great experience. There will be a Santa Claus station where attendees can take a picture with Santa using their cell phone for a donation (not required). Children will also be able to write a “Letter to Santa” or a “Wish List” and  mail it to the North Pole. In addition, light refreshments will be served to parents while they wait for their children to shop.

WHEN: Saturday: December 8th & 15th from 9 AM to 3 PM

WHERE: ASCC, BLDG L (8th), in the conference rooms & Welcome Center, BLDG WC (15th), in the community rooms (campus map attached).

HOW: Simply make an appointment online at . SSA members will have the first opportunity to sign up but the appointments will be opened to the HFC public beginning on the 19th. Walk-Ins are more than welcomed but keep in mind that there may be a wait. Cash is the preferred method of payment but we will be accepting credit card payments (there is a small processing fee associated).

To make this experience even more magical we need volunteers! Please contact Joyce Stukel ( or 313-317-1735) with your availability for shifts and to discuss all the volunteer opportunities we have available.
